Feeling a little stuck? Maybe you blame yourself or someone else for the predicament you’re in, or maybe you feel like you’ll never get out of it. It’s all too easy to let fear, uncertainty, and hopelessness run the show. Allowing such thoughts and feelings to go unanswered will keep you firmly planted in them and will likely delay any resolution.
There’s a thin line between figuring out the cause of a problem and placing blame. The former can help you to resolve an issue or determine what your next steps may be, while the latter tends to eclipse possible solutions.
Sure, someone else may have brought you to this difficult place, but they’re probably not going to help you get out of it. Maybe your own “bad” behavior got you stuck, but every day is another chance to do better. It’s also possible that you may not have known what the outcome would be - we do the best we can with what we know, and now you know a little more.
Maybe a solution or way out of this mess is beyond your control at this time.
If that’s the case, continuing to focus on it and complain about it will only make sure you continue to feel awful. Focus on what you can control and try to make the best of your circumstances. Like everything in life, this too shall pass. You may not have any control over this situation, but you can control what you do with it and how you carry yourself at this time.
This is a time for hope and a refusal to let this circumstance bury you.
It’s a time to strengthen your resilience and coping mechanisms, and a time to seek out resources that can help you stay afloat until the storm has passed. Most importantly, this is a time that calls for community and connection. Seek out others who are dealing with similar circumstances.
Follow your local community page on Facebook or check out the real-life events happening in your area. Most cities and towns have a free printed newsletter that lists local events.
Nobody is coming to save you - not because they don’t want to, but because they don’t know you need help. You’re going to have to ask for it. The villages and tribes we build are so much more important than they’ve ever been, so cultivate the important relationships in your life and be intentional about expanding that village to include your neighbors.
This is how we create lives, communities, and systems that do more than meet our needs - they support our joy and enable us to thrive instead of just surviving. You are so much more than your circumstances!
