IDGAF...But I Do! Plus Updates and Media Recs
Nonya's Nonsense Newsletter for April 21st, 2026
Hellooooooooo Beautiful Soul!!
When someone new happens to wander into my socials, they might understandably think that Iām one of those love and lighters who pretend the world isnāt burning around them. This is called spiritual bypassing, and Iām not on board with that at all.
There is no shortage of media that keeps your nervous system pinned. No shortage of media that makes you feel inadequate as a person and helpless to change the injustices of our society. You can get your cortesol dumps somewhere else, though - I want this space to be a place you can come to when you need a break from all that, need reason to hope, and inspiration to create change.
I struggle with my own life and the state of the world just as much as anyone else, but I know that staying in that energy isnāt helpful. I also know that hyper-focusing on the shitty stuff often blinds us to possible solutions. We need the anger and despair to motivate systemic change, but we also need the emotions that remind us of just how beautiful life can be. Thatās the bit that keeps us going!
Here are some things I need you to know:
You are not a shitty person because you use AI or Amazon.
Itās just about impossible to participate in life on this planet in any way that doesnāt have an unethical foundation. We have been gaslit our entire lives to think that our inability to do all the ārightā things as individuals is the reason why those in power are trash, slavery is still a thing, and our planet is so polluted.
Buy a carton of eggs at the grocery store, and chances are itās from chickens that have never seen daylight. Go for the ācage-freeā brand, and theyāre packaged in an obscene amount of plastic. Plus, ācage-freeā usually still lacks humane conditions.
I think every one of us would love to get our stuff directly from local farmers, but a lack of resources - money, energy, health - makes this impossible for so many more people than you think!
All that plastic pollution that covers our earth and fills our bodies continues to be a problem because itās made with oil - our entire economic system is built with and thrives on oil consumption. The people in power were made by oil and will continue to enrich themselves at our expense for as long as they are allowed to do so.
Companies like DuPont have always dumped their chemicals in our drinking water and land, while companies like Nestle steal it and sell it back to us. All our electronics are made by children at some point in the process, and utilize materials gained by exploiting and destroying entire cultures.
Here in the US, our food is literally and legally poisoned because sick people feed our insane for-profit healthcare system. We create problems so we can sell the solutions.
Law enforcement is only for the poor and people of color. Our ādetention centersā for immigrants and our prisons are all for-profit, because we need as much unpaid labor as possible, and our sadistic leaders get off on the pain and havoc they cause.
Our tech bros, corporations, and oligarchs arenāt the problem - the systems that allow them to exist are the problem. Our leaders create legislation that gives more and more to the big players while restricting and dehumanizing the rest of us at every turn.
None of this is new; we just have bigger and better ways of destroying our habitat as our technology evolves.
I donāt think I need to tell you about the unbelievable atrocities that are happening now - again - nothing new, just more. We think that this is what will always be, because thatās how itās always been, but that is a carefully cultivated lie that weāve been conditioned to believe since taking our first breath.
It has not always been this way, and it will not continue to be this way. This is what happens when those who create and nurture life are silenced. This is what happens when the masculine holds power for millennia without feminine power to balance it out. This is what happens when systems value money and power over people and planet.
This is the patriarchy, and it has not always been this way.
Men wrote our history books. Men created religions as a means of control that have been used to exploit, exterminate, and erase entire populations who did not comply, orā¦for just existing in the vicinity of something they want to consume. Men who continue to use their religions to exterminate, erase, and exploit for all the same reasons.
Itās a game to them.
A game they think they will always win.
A game they have decided they must win at any cost.
Donāt get me wrong, I love men! Sometimes theyāre cute and can be tons of fun! ššš Yaāll got a lot of work to do though. Weāve all got a lot of work to do, but a lot of us shes, theys, and others have been working through it for our entire lives. Obviously, these are generalizations, so donāt come for me in the comments - or do come for me and suffer lol!
I Believeā¦
Iām seeing the shift away from and breaking of these systems, and so are you - even if you havenāt yet realized it.
Those with power - they fucked up.
They allowed us the use of technology that helps us to communicate with each other in a way that wasnāt possible even thirty years ago.
They use our technology to nurture agendas, but we can use it to inform, organize, and connect with each other. We are using it right now to spread seeds of change. They can no longer hide their atrocities, and we are no longer accepting such things as ājust the way things are.ā
I firmly believe in my whole heart that the ruling energies of violence and greed are dying, and making as much noise as possible as they try to hold on for dear life. Iām not saying violence and greed will cease to exist, of course, only that they need not be the standard that governs our planet.
I believe we are birthing a new (old) way of living in harmony with our land. I believe in LANDBACK and reparations. I believe that women make better leaders. I believe elders should pass their knowledge on to younger generations, not rule over them. I believe in toppling corrupt systems and those who uphold them.
I know we are creating the change we want to see.
I know that community is incredibly important at all times, but especially now! Libraries are far more valuable than just places full of books, and sewing circles need to make a comeback.
I also know that what we all need is belief. Not belief in a god or goodness as the natural state of humanity, but belief that we can create good change on such a grand scale.
How many of us have chosen the lesser of evils because we believed the good choices wouldnāt have enough backing? How many times have we swallowed our outrage because we believed this is just how things are?
How many of us feel helpless this very moment?
This is your reminder that even small rocks make ripples.
Last year, I wrote about some amazing environmental changes weāve created in my time on this planet. Iāll include it under the āHelpful Linksā section at the bottom of this newsletter.
I would also like to add that we are constantly creating new ways to reduce our environmental impact. This includes big developments in data storage, which will mitigate the amount of resources needed to operate things like data centers.
I found an interesting article that talks about some of the recent developments in data storage that I will link below as well.
Donāt lose hope, my friends, we are birthing a new era! It wonāt be easy, but we have immense influence on just how difficult it will be. It may also help to remember that this shift has been happening for quite some time.
Our current state feels like the mess that happens when youāre in the process of decluttering or deep cleaning. Itās ten times messier than when you started, but itās necessary to help you sort what no longer belongs in your space.
I have a challenge for you today:
Find one article or piece of media that gives your heart a little hope, and drop it in the comments below. Please feel free to share as many as you like, of course!
If you found this helpful or inspiring and would like to send me a little love, you can do so by purchasing something from my shop, buying me a coffee, or becoming a paid subscriber.
Take care of yourself, Beautiful Soul, and take care of your neighbors! š
