Proud Mama, Doing The Hard Thing, & Media Recs
Nonya's Nonsense Newsletter for April 3rd, 2026
Hello Beautiful Soul!!!
There’s a lot happening in my world, and I’m so happy to be able to share it with you! First up is all about my baby boy, who is a professional fighter. He’s got a fight tomorrow night, and he’s on the main card!
Not only can you watch on pay-per-view, the fight will also be streaming live on Amazon Prime! Search for “Flex Fights” to find it :)
The event starts at about 5-5:30 pm EST, and Brian’s match will be later in the night because he’s on the main card.
He and a few of his fighter friends also created a management team called CTC - Couch to Cage, and they have a Twitch channel if you want to check them out. I’m watching the weigh-ins on Twitch as I write this :)
Doing the Hard Thing
If you’ve been with me for a while, you may know that I have been trying and failing to do Pick-a-Card Tarot Readings on YouTube for years now. Between equipment woes, personal insecurities, and physical overwhelm, I guess you can say it just wasn’t in the cards…until now!
I finally released my first YouTube video last week and am actually excited to make more!
The first video really shows my discomfort and insecurity. The readings are good, but there’s plenty of opportunity to laugh, both with me and at me, throughout the video 😂😂😂
The quality of the video isn’t great, but I’ve learned a lot, so future videos should be a LOT better! It’s definitely a big learning curve, but my recent work with simpler videos (like my Messages From the Universe) has been incredibly helpful!
So why now? What made me finally do the hard thing?
Well, I’ve been working hard at streamlining my processes and simplifying my schedule. I’ve also kept this goal front and center the entire time. As mentioned above, my recent work with simpler videos was a huge help, but the biggest reason is not so cut and dry - it just finally felt right.
There were so many obstacles, both internal and external, that have softened a lot recently. There was no urgency or forcing myself, just a feeling of finally being ready to do the thing. It was still hard, but no longer felt like I was fighting to make my way through molasses just to get started.
I hope you will enjoy this journey with me 💙

Media Recs
I’d like to start this section with a little helpful info for books. There are 2 free library apps that I use that you will love - Libby and Palace. Both allow you to borrow audio and ebooks using your library card. The 2nd app is one I only just discovered because my state library uses it. I was able to request a library card via the app.
Books
I just finished “House of Earth and Blood” and have just started “House of Sky and Breath,” (books 1 and 2 in the 3-book Crescent City series), by Sarah J. Maas.
I called them “fairy smut” before, but they’re so well written, and so much more than romance books. They’re really great fantasy stories :)
You can read more about that series here on her site, and don’t forget to check out her ACOTAR series while you’re there - that’s the one that hooked me and she’s releasing another 2 books in that series soon!
Games
Ok, I know this isn’t something I usually share, mostly because I don’t have the time to play a lot. I’m a Gen-Xer, though, so I love a good game, especially RPGs.
Assassin’s Creed is one of my favorite game series. I’m currently geeking out on Odyssey and have been going at it hard the past few days.
This game came on my radar because I was watching someone talk about the Minoans using this game to show the palaces and all that. They actually consult with historians to make the world in these games as accurate as possible, and it’s an amazing experience - especially if you have a nomad’s heart as I do!
They’ve also got a new witchy one coming out called “Hex” that I’m excited for and they’re currently offering free play on several games and platforms including Xbox. I play mine on my Fire TV, so no console necessary!
You can find out more about the series here on Ubisoft’s Site.
Movies & TV
I haven’t been watching much of anything because of Assassin’s Creed lol but I’ve got a few for you!
”Spy” - Comedy & Action Movie on Starz starring Melissa McCarthy, Rose Byrne, & Jude Law
This was hilarious! Here’s IMDB’s summary:
“A desk-bound CIA analyst volunteers to go undercover to infiltrate the world of a deadly arms dealer and prevent diabolical global disaster.”
I can’t reccommend this one enough!! There’s a twist in every episode and they’re starting season 4 on April 19th - I can’t wait! here’s IMDB’s summary:
“Unravel the mystery of a town in middle U.S.A. that imprisons everyone who enters. As the residents struggle to maintain a sense of normality and seek a way out, they must also survive the threats of the surrounding forest.”
This one is a continuation of “The Handmaid’s Tale” and is starting on April 8th. I’ve been wating on this for a long time! Here’s the summary from IMDB:
“This sequel to "The Handmaid's Tale" follows Agnes and Daisy, two teens in Gilead who must navigate an elite preparatory school where obedience is brutally enforced. Their bond becomes the catalyst that will transform their lives.”
Music
Because who doesn’t love a good sea shanty?
That’s All For Now, Folks!
