Beyond Your Limitations ~ A Message From the Universe

Today’s Message From the Universe invites you to challenge your perceived limitations. It’s time to remove the word “can’t” from your vocabulary!
Limitations, we’ve all got them! Our bodies, our minds, the societies we live in, and the barriers can be endless at times. There will always be much that is beyond our control, but we have a tendency to restrict ourselves and our beliefs about what’s possible far more than necessary.
It’s a delicate balance, this whole control thing, and it can be confusing! While it’s important to accept the things that are beyond your control, it’s also important to be resourceful about how you manage such things. You don’t want to give up just because you met with resistance, but you don’t want to be trying to control something that’s out of your hands.
There is no easy recipe to determine what to do in any situation where your ability to control the outcome or path is in question. Some paths may demand more than you can healthily give, while others that seem impossible can open up new possibilities.
I’d like to show you what I mean by telling you a little bit of my own story.
I placed work over health for my entire life. I was great at what I did, but I had to call out more frequently than any of my bosses liked. There came a time, a few years back, when my body was no longer able to work at all, and my mental health became more brittle than ever. I tried anyway, but couldn’t even get a call back, and I’m so glad I didn’t!
Once I was able to do some good physical, mental, and spiritual healing, I realized that I could go back to traditional work, but it wouldn’t be long before all that healing would begin to break down again. It was a hard lesson to learn, and I must admit that I continued to try from time to time.
This is when Half-Cracked Guru was born.
Of course, Guru hasn’t been the best money-maker, so I’ve done a lot of freelance work throughout the years as well. I’ve purchased two desks over the past five years, thinking I was healed enough to use them. I still cannot sit at a desk for long. As a matter of fact, I have a big husband pillow as well as a little lap desk and do as much work as I can from a semi-reclined position.
I have a monthly freelance client that has been with me for a few years now, but that’s because she only requires 2-3 hours a month. Previous attempts at working for others who became regulars quickly took a toll on my health.
My God, what a world that has opened up to me, though!
While the building of my empire is slow due to my body’s limitations, it is no less amazing! There’s a lot of learning and experimentation that goes into such things, so knowing this helps me to see that what doesn’t work is just another step in the process.
Being able to stop when my body and brain need a break has been incredible. So many things I’m doing are things I never really had the capacity to do when I was sick and exhausted all the time. While I’m privileged to have a dear friend who took me in and nurtured my growth, it is my hope that, if you are sick and exhausted, you might see that there is a way out, even if it takes a long time.
I would like to challenge you to give yourself a little time each week to think about what you would like to do, and be, if the rat-race didn’t seem so inescapable. Then use that time to build that vision one brick at a time.
If you’re already building that vision, this is your reminder to dig up the little bits of progress and hold them up to the light so you can see them a little clearer. Those are the bits that can give you a little extra oomph when the road is long.
Keep building a life you don’t need a vacation from.
Stand firm but stay flexible! Allow your limitations to be a cause for you to be resourceful instead of stuck, and replace “I can’t” with “I won’t” and “I will!”

If we truly had that goal from the beginning, our growth would have been slow and steady. AND sustainable.
